A watercolour interior study: a tall cylindrical stove with open glowing embers and, beside it on the floor, a white and blue enamel kettle. Cool grey-blue and violet shadows set the overall atmosphere, while orange flares of fire and floor offer a warm counterpoint. Quick, confident wet-on-wet handling gives the scene an intimate, domestic mood.
